The Waynesboro Police Department operates 24/7 to serve and protect the people in the borough of Waynesboro, PA. The borough has a population of approximately 10,000 people covering a geographic area of 3.4 square miles. The department currently employs 23 people, with 21 sworn officers (20 full-time and one part-time) and two clerical staff. The Police Department is under the direction of Police Chief Ray Shultz, who reports to Mayor Richard Starliper. The Chief of Police is the primary administrator of the Waynesboro Police Department and is assisted in the administration of the Department by one sergeant, three corporals and one detective/corporal. The Department has one canine named "Ex," one canine officer, one DARE Officer, one certified child safety seat technician, and two officers trained in bicycle patrol. The Department has four marked squad cars, one canine car, and one unmarked car.
