Iowa Equine Rescue & Awareness League Inc

The Iowa Equine Rescue and Awareness League is an established non-profit, hooved animal/equine care provider for all 99 counties for the state of Iowa. Currently, IERAL is monitoring 412 equines in 16 counties. We work with all sheriff's departments and veterinarians to assist them when livestock is being neglected or abused. IERAL would like your support to help educate and bring awareness to the public about the growing problem of livestock/equine abuse and neglect. Also, IERAL will be available to help during any natural disaster or emergency situation that may arise. IERAL's goals are many. One main goal is to offer resources and education to equine owners in need of help. We hope this task will decrease costs to counties and help cut down on equine rescues as well. Education and communication is needed in order to help prevent neglect and abuse, and IERAL would like to offer our help. Our 90 day Standard Operating Procedures is available for you to review. IERAL has become CERTIFIED in Equine Investigation and has joined forces with several recognized rescue organizations, including the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, the Cedar Valley Humane Society, and the Wright County Humane Society. It has become clear that most shelters are neither trained nor experienced in handling equines. Also, the majority of animal rescue organizations are most familiar with small animals and the Iowa Code 717B. IERAL is offering our expertise to help with investigations, monitoring, and seizure, when needed. IERAL is the ONLY equine not-for-profit rescue who has this certification! IERAL is NOW Certified for Equine Investigation! Completed 48 hours of training in June 2006!
